jlee306 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Hello, I am going to be doing an internship my last semester of undergrad (Spring '10) that is very relevant to the grad program I will be applying to. Here is the situation: I am going to turn my applications in at the end of December and do not start the internship until the beginning of February. I am wondering if I can still put this internship on my CV? If so, what do I need to say about it? Do I need to put "Starting Feb 1" and list my job objectives that the agency gave me? Just in case you need to know, I already have my contract with the agency filled out and turned into my intern professor--so it is a sure thing that I will be doing the internship. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
fuzzylogician Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I had a similar situation with a course I was TAing in spring semester and with a presentation. I just wrote 'expected' (and the start dates) next to those entries and put them in the relevant sections of my CV. I also think my LoR writers mentioned these things in their letters, so it should have looked convincing enough.

I just wanted the grad school admission committee to see that I would be doing an internship that is highly relevant to the program. Thanks for your response. Anybody else?

When I have conference presentations coming up, I go with "Upcoming" and then the date. You could do that or "expected". In addition, I'd definitely mention that you have this internship lined up in your SOP - it shows your dedication to the field and that you can snag wicked opportunities.

I also like "Upcoming" b/c it shows that I will be doing it.
