If anyone here is familiar with the Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design doctoral program at Clemson... Would you know if acceptances are sent to applicants for the online and in-residence programs at the same time? I'm curious if certain acceptances are possibly sent first (with more to follow--and yes, this might be wishful thinking), or if not receiving an acceptance letter at the same time as others means a rejection is coming soon.

Thanks for any insight.

I'm responding to myself, just in case anyone might see this and know the answer. If not, though, I'm sure I'll know soon enough!

Hi there. I don't know whether you ended up hearing from Clemson, but I heard a great deal about Victor Vitanza from my grad school experience, and the consensus is/was that he is a brilliant man and scholar with a unique and richly rewarding way of looking at this field. If you didn't get into Clemson, I'd advise trying again next year, because Vitanza is one of the few luminaries in rhet/comp whom I think it would be an honor to study with/under/around. Hope your application season is treating you OK. Where else did you apply? Best, MNM

I didn't apply to RCID, but I did apply to MAPC (Masters in Professional Communication) and haven't heard anything yet.

I was accepted yesterday as well! Really excited as I think I'm going!

That's awesome- Congrats! Have you heard anything about funding? I know in the letter it says to ask, but I really don't want to do that

I haven't. I was going to wait a day or two to hear from the department and then ask. I'd really rather not ask them myself, either.

I was thinking the same, but this acceptance really threw me off. I wasn't expecting it, and I was actually just about to commit to another school. This really changes things though so I might email today! Not that I would hear anything before the weekend...

It's early enough, so you still might hear back today!

I'm getting ready to send it now, so hopefully!

On another note, sorry we took over your thread, @rhizomes.

Good luck! I'll be emailing on Monday or Tuesday if I don't hear anything!

It looks like Clemson's spring break is next week, so I wonder if we'll hear anything... I sure hope so.

Fret not, I was wrong. I got a response today. We'll get emails by March 15th, but "probably tomorrow." So we won't be waiting long!

Wow, thank you so much! I'm going to be so nervous until I get that email, then.

No worries, and congrats to both of you! I was also accepted (after all of that stressing!), so I'm very excited. The faculty seem AMAZING.

I'm so happy to hear that since I got news of my assistantship this morning! I'm really excited to be attending in the fall!

Congrats! Same here! I'm still torn between my two top schools, Clemson and USF. I seriously have no idea what I'm going to do, and I was so sure before. What sold you on the program?

Congratulations! Clemson was actually my top pick; I applied to NC State, Auburn and Virginia Tech as well. When I initially started making decisions on where to apply, my advisor told me Clemson would be one of the best in the region if I were to go on to get a PhD. The area and campus both seem great and I wouldn't have to move quite as far, which was definitely a plus for me. They seem to have a lot to offer as far as facilities go too. That, and I keep hearing great things about the RCID program, so I'm excited to be sharing some of the faculty.

Hey, I'm from the Virginia Tech area! I went through a period when pretty much every school I applied to was my top pick, haha. The department chair of the English department at my undergrad school recommended that I apply to Clemson, and she pretty much said the same thing you just did. If I want to go on to the PhD, I should pick Clemson. I've also heard a lot of great things about RCID. What is it you want to do? I want to teach/get into writing center administration, and I'm not sure which school would give the best bet for me.

I think I want to get into technical writing/editing. I also have an interest in research and working on academic journals, though.
