emmabear
So, I received the admittance letter from the DGS and it had my prospective student id number on it. So I when I saw it I told my husband how this number is wrong and my previous id numbers at other schools were amazing, easy to remember and this one just doesn't make any sense and it's probably a bad sign. He thought I was crazy. Wanted to ask you guys what was the craziest thing you've said/thought during the application/admittance/decision process? Need Coffee in an IV
That I could totally afford 50,000 dollars in debt. My only acceptance doesn't guarantee funding so if I didn't get picked for possible fellowships then that's what I would end up with after I complete my masters. I have no undergrad debt so that blinded me for a bit. But reality has set in, sigh...
shadowclaw
"It shouldn't be hard for my husband to find a job in our new city... there are lots of warehouses and factories in the area." Yeah right. He made a mistake with marijuana a few years ago and now one little misdemeanor is preventing him from getting hired anywhere. Which I can't wrap my head around, because back in our home state, no one gave a hoot about your criminal background unless you did something really heinous. Here, where marijuana is legal, you can't get a job with a misdemeanor for possession of paraphernalia except for minimum wage fast food and seasonal farm work. shadowclaw
@emmabear at least one of us has a steady job although I'm not sure how the summer will go. My TA position only runs through June unless I was able to get a summer position. Hopefully he'll find something by then! Cat_Robutt
Cat_Robutt
@shadowclaw hopefully! The U.S. gets really weird with minor criminal offenses. Best of luck in securing a summer position as well.
