Done with the GRE

I took the first one in Sept and got a 600 V, 410 Q and 5.5 AW

I have been studying like crazy and had my second round today.

The stuff on the test was almost all the stuff I didn't study for (coordinate geometry was recurrent) or stuff that I was still shaky on (percentages, numbers with lots of zeroes). And I had a second V section :( While I was taking the math section, I almost started crying because it was all so foreign and so difficult, even after all the studying I had done. In general, I was almost sick for the whole test because I was so stressed. And during the verbal, I actually ran into two words that I had never ever seen before. I thought I was going to get a migraine or fall asleep. So I was just ready to move on and then comes the next verbal!! I thought it was experimental because it was SOOOO easy. But then when there were questions about highlighted sections in the RC, I knew it was. SO I went through that part pretty quickly.

But when all was said and done: 600V 590 Q!!!!! 1190

I was so happy and astonished. I know these still aren't great scores, but they are much closer to good enough. Also, an increase of 180 in less than 2 months makes me happy. Although I really think it is such a luck of the draw because I guessed a lot on this one but I must have guessed right

That's amazing! I'm so happy for you! I think those scores are good enough for sociology program! I made an increase of 110 in my verbal section and I'm really pleased. I know my score is not brilliant but I've tried my best to improve as much as I can in two months.

The experimental section is evil. Luckily in the UK the research section is optional.

Thanks!

Yes, the experimental section is evil.

BTW, thanks to LateAntique for the well wishes!

Of course! Well done on raising your score. I'm taking the GRE for the second time this Wednesday just to boost my verbal a bit, so hopefully your success will come my way.

Hahah. I had the exact same experience on my first go around. Freaked out the whole way through because everything seemed so hard and foreign and was pleasantly surprised with my final score. Like you, I don't think it is the best score, but it is "good enough", and that is all I can ask for at this point. I'm considering retaking the test to get my Verbal up, since at this point I can't really lose, considering the programs I'm applying to take the best section out of your attempts.

Anyways, congratulations! I know the feeling of relief =D
