Ethan_wireless Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) Hi, everyone. I received this email 3/2 Wednesday. Anyone have ever heard of a "Recommendation for Admission"? While this email says it's unofficial, it really confuses me what is the procedure of making admission decisions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been recommended for admission into the master’s program in Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. While this unofficial letter serves as a useful source of advanced information, you will receive a formal letter from the Graduate Office very soon. If you do not receive this letter within a reasonable amount of time after receipt of this email, please contact our Electrical Engineering Option Coordinator, Ms. Tanya Owen, at tanya@caltech.edu. As a graduate student pursuing a higher degree at one of the pioneering research institutions in the world, you will have a wonderful and exciting time here. Congratulations, and we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Edited March 7, 2016 by Ethan_wireless Privacy concern
Neist Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Some people do not know this, but you have to be accepted by both a program and the university's graduate college or office. Now, it's pretty rare that the latter does not approve of the former's recommendations, so an email like this usually confirms an acceptance because a program's admission standards are typically more stringent than a graduate office's. Congratulations! I'd take this notification as an almost certain acceptance. Ethan_wireless 1
