Johns Hopkins Bloomberg MPP

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!  I got into the MPP program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health a few days ago with some funding.  I'm interested in health and food policy, which are definite strong points of that program, so in that regard I'm thrilled.  However, I was wondering if anyone here could tell me a little more about the other, non-specialized aspects of their program and what its overall reputation is.  I'm also in at Wisconsin and Duke, and I'm waiting to hear back from a few other programs as well.

@mfmpp I'm really interested in viewing policy problems (specifically poverty and everything that comes with) as public health issues and I think Hopkins is the ideal place to do that. The ability to be so interdisciplinary seems awesome, not to mention the status of being in the Public Health school (although who knows if that carries over to the public policy people)...seems like most of the interest in this forum is on their IR school (SAIS?) and I just can't seem to like mentally "rank" them with the other programs I'm looking at.

Wasn't all THAT keen on them though until they offered me like 2/3 tuition soooo needless to say my interest was piqued!

Yeah.  I'm curious to know more about the rigor of their quant courses as well as how well-regarded their MPP is (I'm not sure if I'd like to stay in Baltimore for my whole career).  At this point I'm in at Berkeley as well which is another foodie place, albeit with no funding.
