Grad schools with no minimum GPA to graduate

Question

Posted

Hello,

All grad schools I came across require sfudwnts to maintain 3.00 GPA to stay in a program. If your GPA goes below 3, you go into probation, you lose financial aid eligibility and so on. Are there any grad schools in the USA that do not require you to maintain 3.00 GPA to stay in a program and graduate? Thank you

I don't know that I would enroll in a grad program with the intention of getting below a 3.0, it seems like a waste to me. Grad programs exist to create leaders/scholars/high achievers in that field so a program that requires below a 3.0 to graduate definitely isn't in line with that mission and most likely is not very reputable.

There are some that only require 2.7. Can't remember which ones. Sometimes it needs to be higher to get continued funding, like 3.3 or 3.5 even. Schools will definitely fudge grades up or down, depending on whether they want you to stay or want you to drop out. Such is academia.
