morpheus Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 There seem to be a few of us on the Results page who haven't received a response from MIT's Mechanical Engineering Department. No need to spam that list If anyone has any news about this program, keep us posted!
morpheus Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 And to answer the last guy's question: nah, I'm not really still hoping. I mostly applied to Applied Math programs anyway
psychomugs Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I've been so anxious that I made a quick Python script to keep checking the results page and text me whenever a new result pops up. It'd be great to get some closure sometime this week. Given that we've survived this long, I'd think we're on some sort of waitlist.

You're probably right about the waitlist... unless of course they're waiting for a Pi Day slaughter
ChampaignSupernova Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I am waiting as well butI am not sure about the "waitlist" thing. Because based past few years records, there should be much more posted rejections from MIT Mechanical. I think this year is just they slowed down the process and many people are on that "waitlist". morpheus 1
Soooo Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I'm joining this boat. Just keep wait and wait and wait...
RonS1994 Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) Just emailed the admission office. They told me my application is still with the admission committee and they haven't made a decision yet...Also I remember they said in an email that the review of applications is on a rolling basis ... I submitted my application two days before deadline, so... I guess I might have to wait longer lol Edited March 11, 2016 by RonS1994

Agreed, there's likely a torrent of rejections coming soon. 1 hour ago, RonS1994 said: Just emailed the admission office. Strangelove Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Submitted my application on 14 Dec. Haven't received anything from the department yet. IMO it is highly unlikely to get an admission offer now. I believe most of the admits have already been communicated in Feb and first week of March. I have, therefore, accepted admission offer from UM, Ann Arbor for MSE in Mechanical Engg.
morpheus Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 My "Pi Day Slaughter" prediction was off... but I guess the "Ides of March" is almost as good. Still waiting
omid13 Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 So, now what? When should we expect the next wave of rejections?
ChampaignSupernova Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Finally! I got my rejection ! psychomugs 1
RonS1994 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Still waiting... I bought Inflight Wi-Fi just to check my emails lol
morpheus Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 I emailed for a status update this morning, but no luck: Dear [morpheus], Your application is still with the admissions committee and no decision has been reached yet. As soon as the committee makes a decision, we will notify you promptly by email. We expect to have all decisions made by the end of March. Regards, ME Grad Office psychomugs 1
coffeeplz Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Anyone know if they have an internal waitlist? It seems as if a lot of people haven't heard back yet & I still haven't been notified. I assume the department doesn't send out a response until an official decision (acceptance or rejection) has been made. If in the case our applications are put on a "waitlist", are they just waiting to see which of the extended offers accept their spot in the program?

To be honest, I'm slightly more sad that the whole waiting process is over than the decision itself. I almost enjoyed looking forward to checking this site every hour haha.
electrickimchiclub Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 finally got the reject a few days ago as well. haha took them long enough!

At the moment I'm leaning more towards the other mechanical engineering program, which is a great mix of both applied math and engineering. How about you, what do you want to research within mechE? And yeah, it was fun overanalyzing!
