I am planning on accepting my enrollment to UDC this week, but the department seems to have bad reviews though they are from a few years ago...anybody who is attending currently or just finished who can give an updated insight?is the faculty supportive?how many students are or were you? How is the housing situation?

Any tips would help,thank you!

Hi! I currently attend UDC's graduate SLP program. Tuition is definitely cheaper than most SLP programs...a true blessing. I LOVE the location...also a plus. This program throws you right into clinic...which makes sine because all of my classmates have previous experience of some sort. I'm guessing that's what they look for in students they admit. I think the poor graduation rates that you're referring to are because there were students that couldn't maintain the workload so they had to drop out. You have to be independent before you start this program...really know what you want and be ready to establish professional relationships. The administration is a bit behind in technology...which makes them look unorganized at times...the program really needs to transition into doing everything paperless. But the thing is, most of the professors are still practicing and don't have the time to "go paperless" if that makes sense. Their focus is about getting ready for the externships and networking for you. Year 1 is stressful and a HOT MESS but everything will fall into place and make sense right around your first summer session. CONFIDENCE is key and will take you far in this program. If you turn red when you're given corrective criticism and lose your mind when you're put on the spot, this program isn't for you.
