Just got admissions from these universities as a Master student in Electrical Engineering for fall 2016. Could anyone please give me some advice on where to go? I would first give my priority to the convenience in finding a job, then goes to how friendly the place is to the LGBT people.

All kinds of advice is welcomed here!

Congrats.. I have applied to UC Davis EE program for masters.. When did you apply and received their decision ?  And if you have  admits from UCSD and UMIch, then i think  your profile must be damn good !!!

My advice would be to ask yourself what kind of a job you want. Look around at thei kinds of jobs in the area:

UCSD is near a great biotech hub, UC Davis is kinda close to the silicon valley. Im not familiar enough with the areas of the other two but look into that.

Another thing you should do is try to find students to talk to in each program. Ask htem about hte atmosphere. Try to look up facebooks of the schools, clubs etc and find out if theres safe spaces or clubs and events that cater to LGBTQ communities as well as what kind of career services they offer. In fact look up each ones career services and see whats offering the most. These are all great places! Personally I visited UC davis and they seem to put a lot of effort into helping find jobs and professional development. cant speak to the other ones.

First consider funding. Then consider research. I understand the LGBT friendliness is important to you, but honestly determining how friendly the places are would be extremely hard to do, because everything will be based more on personal accounts than statistics and different people can have different opinions. I would immediately eliminate Duke and Davis as options because their programs are not as strong as Michigan or UCSD. In terms of LGBT friendliness UCSD is in california, so I imagine you won't have too many problems, I have no idea about Michigan. Michigan has the strongest electrical engineering program of the school you have acceptances too and it has a broader range of research topics. UCSD has far fewer research topics, but is also a very high quality program. San Diego is nicer to live in, but it is also probably more expensive. (If you are really worried about LGBT friendliness you could download a dating app, change your location to near the schools and ask how friendly it is or do something like that).
