Two pages

I thought someone may have asked this in the past but wasn't able to find it. Many of the schools to which I'm applying give 2 pgs single spaced as the limit, but they don't give a word count. Should I assume that they want 12 pt font (times new roman)? I'm used to using font size 11 for papers and things, so 12 seems so big, but is that standard/the safest way to go?

Yes, 12 pt font is standard.
