grglock Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I've applied to Hunter, Baruch, Queens, City College, and Brooklyn. So far I've interviewed with City and Brooklyn, and have been admitted into Hunter. I also have an interview scheduled for Queens. Nothing from Baruch yet. Hunter was my top choice, so I'm elated that I have been accepted. However, I'm a bit hesitant to commit without weighing all my options. Those who have attended one of the aforementioned schools for MHC, or know someone who has, what was your/their experience? Which CUNY would you recommend? I know in the end it's up to me, but I'm always open to advice. Thank you!
lepetitfaon Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Hi there, Currently also in the application process and received acceptance from Hunter and interviewed twice at Baruch and am trying to decide between the two. Is there a reason you are leaning towards Hunter? I am wondering if it is better to have an MS Ed vs an MA given in a few years only programs housed within school of education will receive accreditation from CACREP which will be necessary to practice at that time. However, given we will be earning out degrees before that goes into affect and will be grandfathered in I'm not sure it matters so much. Like you I'm confused between the choices!

Honestly I've just heard that Hunter is well known for both their Social Work and Mental Health Counseling programs. I'm just curious if people have attended Hunter vs. other CUNYs and what their experience was like.
