Hello everyone!

I got into one of the grad SLP programs of my choice a few months back, but now the issue of funding has arrived. They told me I can apply for funding this year, but I would need three letters of recommendation, and it's due in about a week. I was wondering do these all need to be academic professors? Or can I use my current employers (I work at a non-profit at the moment) and have three of my supervisors (2 directors and 1 manager) write this letter? I'm also taking two online courses which are 100 level, can I use them too?

Thanks!

I asked the same people who wrote my letters of rec for school to also write mine for funding.

That might be out of the question, I don't want to rush them and I want to leave a good impression on them for the future. I might have screwed myself out of funding this year.

Don't give up so quickly/easily, @JerryChaing! If they've already written a letter for you, then writing another one with a week's notice won't be too hard for them. I'm not sure why you think it'd be better to ask current supervisors to do something with a quick turnaround, unless all of them have also previously written letters on your behalf.

Are you planning on going without funding? If they have already wrote you one, it shouldn't be to big of an issue because they probably have a copy. Do you have a good relationship with them? If so, just be honest with them and they should be willing to help you.

@JerryChaing- It might also be helpful to ask your funding/scholarship source if they have a preference of whether the recommendation is from an instructor or a professional. There are a few scholarships that I am applying for that requires recommendations from instructors only.

On another note, as others have said, if the people have already written grad school recommendations for you, then they should be able to provide you with a scholarship letter rather quickly since they have something of substance written for you already.
