Timothy Vallier Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Nothing from Columbia here, although I don't expect to hear from them until March. I will give them a call the first week of March or so. I really hope your friend passes on Temple funding, or that they have a nice TA option available for me. Either would be fantastic. From what I understand, they are still deliberating the latter.
musico Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 UC Berkeley will send results during the last week of February (source: Music Department Ad. Assistant) Princeton: likewise. Harvard and Yale, no idea.... Sorry !
adamscottneal Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 According to the results search from last year, if you are accepted to Columbia, you will be contacted the first week of March. All the rejectees will be contacted around the 15th. In my 2 previous tries for Princeton, I got rejection the 3rd Friday of February (i.e. TOMORROW). Last time I applied to UCSD I got the rejection on the 3rd Friday as well. It was a sad day!
Timothy Vallier Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Well good luck tomorrow Princeton hopefuls!

Timothy Vallier Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 3:57pm CST. Rejected from Princeton.
Timothy Vallier Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Wait-listed at Princeton Congrats and good luck!
mus68 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Anyone heard anything from Yale (musicology / music theory)?
musico Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Does somebody want to take the phone and call Yale up to know what's going on?
yehk Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 hahaha... i would... but i'm overseas.... expensive... It's funny though because as i said earlier in another thread, when I called up in the first week of Feb to check whether my supplementary materials had arrived (back in DECEMBER, which they didn't, naturally), i was told that the committee were in the process of reviewing the applications already. Because of this i am pretty sure that they've already made their choices and it's just admin now. Should be anytime this week... hopefully!!
Timothy Vallier Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 It's a no from NYU Steinhardt. Postal mail.
angesa01 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 ...and I just got a nice rejection from Berkeley. Ouch. I'm one in, one out right now, but rejection never feels nice. Let's hear it for a great Monday!

Let's hear it for a great Monday! Same for me, a nice, impersonal rejection! Well, I was not a good fit into the program anyway !
angesa01 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I'm doing the same thing--I wouldn't have gone there anyway! A native new yorker could never tolerate the bay area! I've been accepted to a better program with better funding anyway! ...but I still wish I had been accepted. I just want to pout a little bit.

Actually, I also got accepted into a program, not a music one though... i'll share once it gets official. Meanwhile, like you, positive answers are always good to hear. Hope Yale is gonna show up (figuratively and literally) VERY SOON. From a search on the result page, Harvard normally sends out notification in early March. Any insider to confirm? infirm? Thanks, and good luck for all !
jose Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Another rejection from Berkeley here - pretty bummed out, it was one of my top choices and I felt it was a perfect fit. Oh well.. c'est la vie, mon ami. 2 acceptances and 2 rejections so far.. we'll see how the rest pan out. Good luck to all!
yehk Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 i want to call yale up so bad but i haven't really got a valid excuse other than I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE
musico Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I called Yale, they say there are still Committee meetings, but nobody in the Grad Administration works today, I should call back tomorrow. I also called Harvard... results were sent out by regular mail yesterday... thus it depends where you live, you'll receive it in the next days... Good luck!!!
composer Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I also called Harvard... results were sent out by regular mail yesterday... thus it depends where you live, you'll receive it in the next days... Good luck!!! Well good luck to everyone waiting for mail from Harvard! Musico, do you know if the mailing they mentioned was for musicology, composition, or everyone? Also, did you speak to GSAS or the dept. of music?

It was the Department of Music, and the ad.ass. said : "all results have been sent out by regular mail yesterday." I don't know more
Jason Thorpe Buchanan Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, applying for PhD/DMA in Composition. Here are my stats: Temple and Buffalo = yes CCM and Eastman = interviewed, waiting to hear back Princeton, Cornell, Yale = no Does anyone know much about the program at Buffalo? David Felder has told me it is unlikely that they have substantial funding available for me but I haven't received official word from the music department, just a generic letter from the university stating my acceptance. Thanks! Jason Thorpe Buchanan 1

Thanks! Welcome Jason, Can you give me some info on Temple. When did they contact you? Did you take the exam? What was it like? Did they offer you money? Have they made any other offers to other people? I'm real curious since they handle all fellowships really early and then divvy out TA and general acceptances later.
