application status?

I've submitted about 4 out of my 8 apps. After submission one of the schools sent me instructions on how to check my application status (signing up for a school id and what not), while the other ones haven't. Is it normally necessary to have all app materials in before they allow you to check your status?

I think it really depends on the school. Check the admissions portion of each school's website; if it's silent, you might want to call the admissions office itself and ask.

I've applied to a number of schools and a few have told me I can log in to the same application page to check my status, others have given me a separate page and new login information, and, well, others just aren't so tech-savvy.
