My dream is to get into UCSD's PhD bioengineering program, ranked 4th in bioengineering grad schools. Am I a competitive applicant? I have a 3.63 GPA, but a 3.374 GPA only considering engineering technical courses. I am retaking a class I got a C in; and I audited one engineering class, scheduled to retake it next semester. My official undergraduate degree will be in mechanical engineering. I have not taken the GRE and I have three semesters left. I also am doing undergraduate research, but have only done one poster and no publications to my name.
What can I do to become more qualified?
In addition, should I take biology courses? I don't think I will have enough time to qualify for a biology minor (I have three semesters left), so I will only be taking prerequisite stuff mostly. Please help!
