ddsdevil Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) I just finished my first semester at Duke Div. and my grades aren't what I was hoping for. I didn't do too well on my papers in Church History and ended the semester with a C+ in that class. I have high aspirations to do a PhD/ThD and I was hoping to get into a good program. Will this C+ pretty much put an end to that? Thanks Edited January 4, 2010 by ddsdevil
johndiligent Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Will this C+ pretty much put an end to that? I doubt it. It's the first semester of first year (not sure how many years your programme is but I'll bet it's between 2 and 4). Find out what went wrong, do well henceforth and develop a strong CV.
LateAntique Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I agree. Learn from the C+ and do well from here on out. You'll be fine.
ddsdevil Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks for the response! Has anyone made a C+ in a class during their Master's program and was still accepted to a top tier program?
ddsdevil Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 C's are passing in the M.Div. I'm not sure if I can retake it. If I can, wouldn't the C still be on the transcript?

ddsdevil Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 take another course to replace the the C+. Forgive me ignorance, but how does that work? Church History is a core class. Can I really take a class to replace it? If so, would it need to be in the same field? Thanks
peppermint.beatnik Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 It just means, take another seminar, get an A. If you do, it will help your chances. It's not as good as getting an A in your core class, but it's better than doing nothing, right? Shows initiative, etc.
