Anicca Writes Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 (edited) Hi, I am a student from India, with an undergraduate degree in political science and a Grade A (GPA: 4.56/6) in my Masters degree in Development Studies from a reputed university. I have been working in research as well as consultative roles in governance reform and public health sector for last five years. I am planning to return to academics and have been meaning to apply to a Phd course for sometime now. My GRE is score is a mediocre 307 (verbal:154, Quant: 153 and AWA: 4.0) and my TOEFL ibt is 111 (29 in all sections except speaking (23)). Now, the thing is, I have had a difficult life due to congenital defects in my body and I am at the stage of life where I want to do a Phd because I want to learn but don't want to get into the highly competitive academic scenario. Preferably, I would like to pursue a course where I have some degree of freedom in terms of time schedules since my body reacts badly under pressure. Can you guys suggest me some universities, keeping my scores in mind? Edited September 22, 2016 by Abhishek Jha
rising_star Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 When you say that you want some freedom, do you mean not having to take classes full time? If that's the case, you may want to look into European PhD programs where there are no coursework requirements, which in turn could lend it self to a more flexible time schedule.
