Nate92 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 After a lot of thinking (and I know they are very different degrees), I've decided that an Ed.S in School Psychology is better suited for me than I/O Psychology. I'm 24 years old, and the only issues is that I have been working in an unrelated work field, sales, assuming that I would be doing I/O Psychology ultimately, AND my undergraduate GPA was a 2.6 GPA cumulative and roughly a 3.0 major in Psychology. Does anyone have any advice to overcome this or recommendations for schools? I had a personal crisis during the beginning of school.
Andrebenjamin Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Hey Nate, I'm right there with you on a great deal of all this. I'm curious as to why you made the switch from IO psych to School psych. It sounds like you've got plenty of work experience but not necessarily in the field you're interested in. I don't know how set you are on getting right into grad school, but have you considered taking a year to volunteer? I served with City Year a few years back and it's because of that year I found out I really enjoyed working in a school and with children. The program looks great on any CV, resume, or application and is a great opportunity to network.
