casechaser5 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Hello folks, To give you a brief description of my situation, I requested a LOR early November and told my professor that the earliest deadlines are on December 15th. However, I also came across some programs that I am now interested in but they have a December 1st deadline. My questions are: 1) Would the professor think it would be rude or odd or perceive this as being a quality of procrastination? 2) Do programs have a grace period where LORs do not have to necessarily be submitted by the deadline? 3) Do some professors think that not submitting the LOR by a deadline hurts their reputation? I'd appreciate your feedback!
TakeruK Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 1) It's not ideal but you shouldn't let this worry affect your ask. Ask them right now! 2) Usually yes, but don't rely on it. Tell your profs about the Dec 1 deadline and if they don't come in on time, then contact the programs and let them know that some letters may arrive late and hope that it will be okay. 3) No DBear 1
