mano Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 do you guys think that getting a letter only for my teaching stuff is important? I an a GTA for the last two years, but the professor for whose class I taught is not from my area or I haven't taken any graduate course from him. thanks.
fuzzylogician Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 You're applying for a PhD in philosophy? If so, then no, it's more important that the letters discuss your research abilities and potential to succeed as a graduate student.

I am still not sure though because none of my LoRs are familiar with my teaching abilities...anyway, thanks for your reply!
fuzzylogician Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 I don't think replacing a strong research LOR with a purely teaching LOR would be wise for a PhD application. If you could submit it as a fourth letter and you think it'd be a good one, you might look into that. Duns Eith 1
