Labs for muscial instrument?

I would like to ask you for a little help this time.

I'm thinking about going abroad for his graduate study.

I'm seriously looking for universities where he can study materials science or related discipline (acoustics...) for musical instruments.

Most interested subjects are trumpet and brass instruments but the subject is not restricted only to trumpet but open to other instruments as well.

Do you know any university where such research programs for PhD are available?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Try the research group at University of Salford in the UK. They have some pretty cool acoustic engineering programs.

If you're talking traditional instruments, pretty much any large engineering program will have professors in acoustics. They'll most likely fall under the electrical engineering or physics department.

If you're thinking new media and electronic music, you'l want to take a look at MIT.
