I'm applying to MIT/WHOI for isotope geochemistry/paleoceanography. I got the same e-mail: no word until late February.

Well, I am close to the atmospheric program. I contacted several Prof. and was told that the committee made the decision.

How about trying to set up more connection instead of doing nothing?
