Does your surname start with 'A'? I wonder in what order do they send out acceptance letter. By the way, mine starts with 'M'. I haven't heard from them yet. Hope for the best. Good luck to you all.

Got acceptance email from Stanford yesterday (3/8). Haven't heard from Columbia yet.

Congrats! Would like to show your profile(undergrad Gpa, GRE........) and experience to us who are applying next year. Are you applying for Ph.d or master?

You guys are mad lucky...I haven't been accepted yet. So while you decide which school's offer to accept, I'm sweating blood and tears, and my finger nails have all been bitten off lol...anyone else not been accepted yet?

Sorry, I'm not the person ladysquirrel was thinking of; just a recent lurker in this forum.

Profile wise, 3.5 undergrad gpa, 790Q/720V/5.5W, and master's. I've also been working for many years, mostly in finance. Received great recs from co-workers, so that probably helped a lot.

Columbia would be much more convenient from where I live and it has a great reputation & network in the industry. I'm doing distance b/c still working (fortunately), so less of a problem. Will miss out on fun campus life, though.

haha, you misunderstood. I was not referring you as anyone I knew. I was merely wondering if offers are sent in alphabetical order, since you received it earlier than most of us did. Anyway, congrats on the offers and good luck to you.

Another dull day. It's already March 10th and I still have 6 applications out there. I know I am facing a rejection from UMich after all the acceptances and waitlistings got posted, and GaTech is not before the end of the month. But still, what are the other schools doing? Cornell, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, email me already!

Hey guys,

So I got accepted to the MS&E MS program today and I have a few questions:

1. I see they allow core substitutions. However they don't seem to allow or mention substitutions I'd like to make. For example I'd like to take Theory of Probability in the math dept. instead of Probabilistic Analysis and Microecon core instead of Economic Analysis and Advanced Economic Analysis. Does anybody know if they allow these substitutions?

2. If you're in the MS program how hard is it to get into the PhD the following year?

Thanks a bunch y'alls. Best of luck to all those still waiting :)

Hey guys,

Just got accepted to Stanford MS&E. Congrats to everyone else who got in!

hey, kivo2004. Congrats! It's quite a competitive program. I am curious what is the admission stat for this year? You are getting into the top schools. Can you share with us about your profile are you a master in another field? and all that!

I applied to OR for which there was a rejection posted today.

And I agree on wishing luck to everyone. We are starting the final sprint of this process, let's hope we all finish the race happy with our results.

Same here... By the way, is there any webpage for seeing your application status? A professor from a committee told me that he couldn't send me an e-mail because they were bounced back. So far, I know that GaTech has a site, but I don't know if the others have one.

Thanks

Got a rejection from CMU this morning...sucked :(

Hoping to God that I hear good news from Cornell & Columbia. I guess we are all waiting to see if tomorrow is the 'rejection friday'. Well I'm definitely NOT looking forward to checking my email tomorrow/this weekend. Perhaps I will get an email on 'acceptance monday' lol - I am tired of getting rejected, it sucks.

That was me :( Good Luck to you. The only thing I'm praying for now is that i get into Cornell &/Columbia. idk when OR turned out to be my dream thing, but now it is, and I really want to get started on the rest of my life...starting with an admit to Cornell &/Columbia (both great programs).

Undergrad Institution: Big State School

Major(s): Systems Engineering & Economics

Minor(s): Applied Math

GPA in Major: 3.80

Overall GPA: 3.72

Length of Degree: 4 years

Position in Class: Top %10

Type of Student: International, male

GRE Scores:

Q: 800

V: 540

W: 5.0

Research Experience: Capstone Project

Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Usual stuff

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: I was a TA for 6 different classes. I'm not sure if it helped or not

Quite frankly, I wasn't expecting to get accepted because of the low GRE Verbal score. I assume my professors wrote good recc letters for me.

Hey testarossa, have you decided where you will end up going? I'm completely lost right now.

congrats sahilb and kivo

@kivo: i'm still waiting for Columbia. I will most likely choose between Columbia and Stanford, but I am not sure which one though. I'll spend this weekend trying to plan the curriculum and see which one is better......

What is a "Big State School"?? Cal State system is a big state school, so is Penn State, so is Michigan State, so is Florida State ....

Why do you want to know the name of the school? No offense ....

Assuming you want to know because you'd like to evaluate the competitiveness of each applicant, I personally think there is no differences knowing the name of the school. To admission committee, all top schools and schools from ivy leagues are the same. Saying that you are from Harvard or Yale or Cornell doesn't make much difference to them. Likewise, saying you are from Cal State, Penn State, or Michigan State also doesn't make much difference to them either .....
