MSW Program acceptance time

Question

Posted

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know when acceptance/denial letters go out for MSW programs? I've applied to CSU's, UC's, & USC and have not heard anything yet. I'm just going crazy over here waiting.

Good luck to everyone who applied!

Thanks.

I think it just depends on the programs and the deadline timelines. Decisions are usually announced 4-6 weeks after the deadline, I say this because I know for the programs I applied to some decisions aren't going to be announced until late March-early April which sounds far away but that's because the deadlines were like a week or 2 weeks ago (Jan 10th and 15th) so it varies.

I would say it is really important that you take into consideration when your application deadlines were, some friends of mine applied to MSW programs for early deadlines like Dec. 1st and they received acceptances Jan. 20th and Jan. 25th already.

Exactly what schools did you apply to?

It all varies greatly.  Most websites do tend to say that you'll hear back within 4-6 weeks of applying, but that's not written in stone.  For example, UConn's MSW website states that if you apply in December, you'll know by the end of January, but if you apply in January, you won't know until March.  However, I applied to UConn around mid-January and got an acceptance about two weeks later.  So, really, it's all up in the air.

Hi,

Thank you both for your responses. I applied to the MSW programs at Cal state San Bernardino,  Cal state Fullerton, USC and UCLA. And yes, you have a point because some deadlines were in December and some in January so it must vary. My top choice is USC, I'm hoping I get in. Someone from USC contacted me for an on campus visit and did mention that i'd hear back 4-6 weeks after I apply whether I got in or not but it's been 7 weeks and nothing. I will just continue to wait patiently, my nerves are just killing me. :(
