steve3020 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Hi everyone. I am still waiting to hear back from 5 more schools in Comp.lit but waiting with no acceptance is quite stressful, especially because this is my second shot. Anyhow I am trying to pull myself together and prepare for the not unlikely scenario of getting rejected from everywhere again. I got pretty sick of this madness and I don't know if I will apply again to American schools next year in that case. But thanks to a good fellow GCer, I realised that there are a number of Master's courses taught in English in German universities, and also they give some stipend for Master's students too. If there's anyone who has some experience or knowledge of the scholarship from DAAD - I think it's called Scholarship for graduates in all disciplines - can you share some info about it, in particular if the competition is as stiff as getting into a funded phd programme in America? Also, if I apply to programmes taught in English, is my application treated differently than those who apply to ones in German? I'm just really sick of counting on a little piece of luck for getting in and the untransparency of the whole process, and coming to believe more and more that this doesn't make any sense - not because I think I'm particularly better than others, but because for anyone it seems like luck plays too big a role here and that's soul-crushing for too many people.
