Admittance to the wrong program-Now what?

Does anyone have any experience with being admitted to the wrong program? Is it possible to transfer to another? Are there any common rules or is it a case by case basis?

For example, I was admitted to a graduate school for English. I wanted to be in the creative writing program but accidentally clicked on the writing for public policy program on my application. Assume I am qualified for the other program and there were no additional admission requirements.

Any direction on what to do next would be very much appreciated!

Contact the school right away to correct the mistake. As for transfer possibilities, only the relevant school can tell you, we can't even begin to guess.
