mpa2012 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Anyone in the 3/29 decision scholarship group hear anything yet?
stucktomyshoe Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Anyone in the 3/29 decision scholarship group hear anything yet? Still nothing--and we're supposed to make a decision in 2 weeks?
Rand25 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Still nothing--and we're supposed to make a decision in 2 weeks? I applied one week ago.. how long does it usually take for them to notify applicants?
Cali124 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Did anyone else who got accepted via email and still haven't received the official letter in the mail???
paxam07 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Did anyone else who got accepted via email and still haven't received the official letter in the mail??? They said physical acceptances were mailed out last Thursday. Bulk mail usually takes longer to process but I'm thinking about calling them again tomorrow if I haven't received it yet. I got my George Washington paperwork literally within 5 days of their decision.
stucktomyshoe Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Just got an email about the 3/29 scholarship round--didn't get anything.
Putoots Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 For those on the West Coast, I received my packet yesterday, along with a separate envelope with financial aid information. I live pretty close to Downtown Los Angeles so I get stuff fairly quickly. I was generously awarded $61,000 in loans. I did appreciate the handwritten note from GPPI's Dean of Admissions referencing my location and my proposed area of study. It isn't enough to make me take out close to $85,000 in loans, but it was a nice touch.

Putoots Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Well yeah, these are just Federal loans, so they are only going to give you what they expect you'll need for the year. This year they are estimating that the cost of attending GPPI will be roughly $61,000, of which just under $40,000 is for tuition. Does anyone know if tuition at private schools fluctuate as much as public? I'd like to be able to double this amount to estimate my total cost, which is something I dare not do for public schools...especially in California!
natalou Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 So do we all agree that if we haven't heard about funding and have not been asked to submit an essay, we're not going to get it at all? They never said I WON'T get any. That would be nice to know. This is key to my final decision!

I got an email from admissions today saying, "The scholarship committee will make additional scholarship offers. These decisions will be made near the April 15th deposit deadline."
Putoots Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I also received that email. I will also add that it said to respond to the email in order to express my continued interest in the program.
natalou Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I got an email from admissions today saying, "The scholarship committee will make additional scholarship offers. These decisions will be made near the April 15th deposit deadline." Ooh, I did not get that email. And I got a letter in the mail today letting me know I'm eligible for $60k in loans. Oh no! Have either of you received that?
samdrums11 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I received an email saying I didn't get scholarship money, but could be considered for a second round if I want. (Not worth it: I already got 20k from SIPA). I submitted the scholarship essay last Tuesday.
Cali124 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I still haven't gotten my admissions packet in the mail. Anyone else in the same boat?
paxam07 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I still haven't gotten my admissions packet in the mail. Anyone else in the same boat? Me either - and I live in DC. They said they mailed them out last Thursday but as of yet - nothing. I feel like I might call tomorrow and ask if the paperwork can just be faxed or emailed to me directly.

Rand25 Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Anyone still waiting for an admission decision? i applied in mid-march
stucktomyshoe Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Also, is anyone who's been admitted still waiting on their financial aid package, or anything in the mail? This is getting ridiculous.
paxam07 Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Also, is anyone who's been admitted still waiting on their financial aid package, or anything in the mail? This is getting ridiculous. I called yesterday and they said that another set of letters went out last Thursday and should arrive by Friday at the latest. You can also send your deposit check now and then when you receive the GPPI paperwork submit the deposit slip separately.
Rand25 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 is anyone waiting for an admissions decision? i applied in mid march and still nothing?
paxam07 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 is anyone waiting for an admissions decision? i applied in mid march and still nothing? They say to allow 4-6 weeks for a decision and I'm sure a lot of them have been busy with open-house prep and other administrative tasks so you may want to shoot them an e-mail or give them a call. My application took about 5 weeks from submission to decision.
Rand25 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 5 weeks?... ok thanks for the info... ill give it another week before i start harassing them... lol
paxam07 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 5 weeks?... ok thanks for the info... ill give it another week before i start harassing them... lol You might not want to wait - deposit information is "due" by April 15 although I know many people have had problems with long lag times between notification and actual receipt of their admission. Good luck!
