Belambrosia
Hey! Starting a thread for Fulbright Hays this round. Given that the application was due nearly 2 months earlier this year, does anyone have a sense if we'll hear back any earlier? Previous years have been notified late August-September (with a bit of a debacle last fall). ChelleJ
Afhistoryphd
I am told we should hear back late July/August. I haven't heard anything yet.

femgeogphd
I got an email from the university grant person asking to submit a letter of intent. Apparently they are trying to weed out folks who have already accepted the Fulbright IIE because there's a lot of overlap.
brasilianista8
I too received an email from the university grant administrator asking for me to complete a fairly basic form of intent. The administrator thinks the FH folks are close to announcing award recipients. ChelleJ
katelynnlindsey
Same re: form of intent. Haven't heard anything else besides and getting anxious!
TMP
Heard from a friend that decisions got delayed and will be notified before September 30. So frustrating for all the applicants!
Deina
Hi All! I have a question. Does everyone who applied have to complete a statement of intent form to keep their application active, or is it like the SSRC where those who made it to the second round get asked to submit their transcripts? artlesspredilection
Everyone who applied at our university was cc'd in a shared email.

ChelleJ
Here is what I've heard: September 30 is the last day of the fiscal year, prior to which date the US Department of Education must (a) offer all awards, (b) receive all acceptance forms from applicants to whom they offered awards--which takes at least 5 days, and (c) then prepare the formal grant agreements with all affected US universities regarding those awards--which should take at least a week. dtpowis

katelynnlindsey
Anyone else click on this page so much that it's moved to your favorites? I'm a 5th year Linguistics student applying to go to Papua New Guinea to collect data on one of the thousands of languages spoken there for my dissertation. What are your projects? femgeogphd
From the academic wiki: According to a Fulbright Commissioner, they haven't even recieved the applications for final approval in the host countries. Also recieved a notice from the Fulbright Association that reads as follows: "ADVOCACY ALERT: The Senate Appropriations Committee will meet this Thursday, September 7 to consider the future of the Fulbright Program. We are calling on members of our community to write to their senators immediately, urging them to support the Fulbright Program at $250 million and to restore full funding to the Fulbright-Hays Program, which faces elimination. The Fulbright-Hays Program funds research and training experiences for university faculty, K-12 teachers, and others to strengthen instruction in foreign languages, cultural understanding, and international studies. The elimination of Fulbright-Hays would be a terrible loss to U.S. international education. Learn more here — http://bit.ly/2w3HJG5 — and use our online advocacy platform to write directly to your senators in less than 5 minutes. The platform includes a pre-populated letter, so all you have to do is hit send! Please reach out to your senators and share widely as we work to reach every senator by Thursday's committee meeting. We ask that you take this action even if you have already reached out to your representatives as part of our Stand For Fulbright campaign earlier this summer. Thank you for your continued support of Fulbright! femgeogphd
Yes, I was notified of the award at 430 EST. Good luck to everyone else!
artlesspredilection
I wonder if notification timeline is university specific. I haven't heard anything yet. Not sure whether this is due to my university or whether I'm on the waitlist/reject list.
katelynnlindsey
I also haven't heard anything. Seems to be university specific for sure. And maybe country specific if what was said above about not all final decisions being made yet is true?
daykid
Would folks who have heard be willing to share the countries where they work?
