allegheny Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I was admitted to UMN about three weeks ago, with the promise that funding information would be forwarded "very soon." They didn't specify what the funding was, but I assumed this meant a fellowship nomination, and if not the fellowship, a TAship or something from the Department. Like I said, that was three weeks ago, and I'm wondering whether anyone else admitted to UMN has heard about funding or has an idea about when the fellowships at UMN are awarded. Thanks!
cleisthenes Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 A good friend of mine was admitted to a UMN program and nominated for a Graduate School University fellowship. The POI from the dept candidly stated the financial situation is dire, however. They did however state that even if my friend did not receive the fellowship, the department would fund them for 5 years to a certain extend (not full, but about 60-70% of full). They gave an exact number.
b_bstevie Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I got admitted to the Education Policy and Administration Department last week. My letter didn't say anything about funding, but I emailed them and they said they would be making funding decisions this week and students would be notified before the beginning of March.
windbreeze Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I was accepted into the Curriculum and Instruction PhD (Education, too) program back in December. I have e-mailed a few people about funding--it still seems to be up in the air. I am not too optimistic about it, though..
