socialwork102 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Hello! I am interested in clinical social work and was fortunate enough to get into Boston University and University of Michigan. I am interested in working with children and families. Boston University has a clinical track while University of Michigan has an Interpersonal Track. If you have any insight on which program is more clinical in terms of psychotherapy interventions, internships, and coursework etc it would be much appreciated. I have to decide in a week which program I want to attend. If you have any other input about these programs please let me know. Thank you! Magda 1
green_dots21 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 You can check out a sample plan of coursework on Michigan's website. Search "Course planning worksheets" on ssw.umich.edu.

I'm a current msw student at u of m and I strongly recommend it! It's the best program for a reason! I also wouldn't get too bogged down by the details! I'm in the IP tract with a mental health focus on adolescence and I get to do both IP and clinical by working at the university hospital!! There are plenty of options here for placement!!

There is not guarantee that you can get placed there but at least you can see where you can gain experience during your graduate training
taraw Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I attended undergrad at UMich for my BA in psychology and I am currently in Boston's online MSW program. Both schools are fantastic, but I would have to lean towards Michigan. It's ranked for a reason and the research and placement opportunities there are phenomenal. The professors are the best and are incredibly inviting and open to their students. Boston is great (unfortunately, I only have the online experience) but some of my professors have been slightly off putting to put it best. Do your research on course programs as well. and Go Blue!
