cogdiss Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 How can they still not have the list up? This is crazy!
monkeywrench Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 nothing posted for me either (it still just says "submitted") and my last name begins with an L. But remember, we should also consider that they might be updating by discipline. I'm physics/astronomy, so either way I get to sit around twitching (alternately thinking "no, I'm screwed" and "but...maybe...just...ngaah!") Friend of mine got an update on her website - she's psychology, which had an earlier deadline (and her last name is way before mine). What disciplines did you all apply in (particularly those of you that have heard)? Maybe that'll show some kind of pattern. :?
slowestwriter3ver Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 hmmm. i wonder if they roll out the winners alphabetically, or by discipline. any guesses?
cogdiss Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 I'm psychology, too. It could totally be by discipline.
snowcapk Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Developmental Biology, haven't heard. But I did just get an NDSEG...so bite me, NSF!
monkeywrench Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Yeah, definitely craziness. Dangit - I have stuff to DO today. But now I'm just going to be alternating between here and the NSF website (although for now, I promised myself that I won't check again for another hour. Ha. Ha ha.) Congrats to everyone who got one!!! Any honorable mention'ers yet?
cogdiss Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Ok, I just called, and they said that it could actually be a glitch, and they're not sure what's going on. If it turns out not to be true, I don't even know. I accepted while I still have the chance
monkeywrench Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 "glitch"?????? That's just evil. Now I won't know what to think no matter WHAT the website says. Guess it's back to waiting for one of those emails.
thunderbelly Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 good thing I didn't include monday or it looks like I'd be chewing up some rejection.
cherrifaery Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Ahhh NSF is evil. I think at this point theyre just making crap up to laugh at us. They are reading this message board going "Hmm... what can we do next?? TELL THEM THEY ALL LOST. AND THEN... tell them they won! And then tell them that we won't know until June, but in the meantime they can work on writing their proposals for next year!!!" ...grumble

And then tell them that we won't know until June, but in the meantime they can work on writing their proposals for next year!!!" ...grumble Okay, this sounds utterly pathetic, but I had a DREAM like that last week. I seriously dreamed a little email notification saying first that I was rejected, followed by one saying I was accepted, followed by a final one saying "sorry guys, technical glitch, those emails just got sent to everyone. Keep waiting. Suckaaaas!" ...sigh...
slowestwriter3ver Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 now i wish i had written my proposal on: "How to announce acceptances and rejections of a fellowship." certainly they would've funded that, right? (of course not...)
bryophyte Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 The "glitch" might be that they were not suppose to post those before sending out an email. I don't think any that received the notification via Fastlane needs to worry much
cherrifaery Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 This actually happened when I was applying to college too... Cornell accidentally sent out an email to everyone on their waitlist that they had been accepted. Then they were like oops, we sent the wrong email, you were rejected... but then it turned out that they had just sent it to everyone. I guess no one has figured out how to notify anyone of anything important via email without making it incredibly stressful, disappointing and confusing.
thunderbelly Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 huh. it looks like http://uniace.livejournal.com/24927.html this may have happened last year too.
chillaxitive2 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 does everyone see the following categories on their fastlane page? Application Package Task List (mine has nothing in this section) Application Package Optional Task List View/Print Application Download Request for Payment of GRE Subject Test Fee Check Application Package Status
riverine Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 does everyone see the following categories on their fastlane page? Application Package Task List (mine has nothing in this section this section) Application Package Optional Task List View/Print Application Download Request for Payment of GRE Subject Test Fee Check Application Package Status Yeah, that's all I see when I log in, too. Hearing about the people who can see letters already makes me nervous...
slowestwriter3ver Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 same here. (hoping those aren't the losing categories.)
thunderbelly Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 yeah, same here (loser's list). many congrats to those who've won. that's really excellent news.
lambdaman2 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 arrg.. if our sections are normal, game over??
riverine Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I don't think it's "game over" yet, but it certainly makes winning look less likely...okay, nevermind, that's too depressing. Maybe it means nothing! And congrats to those who found out they've won!!
