vikkilynn Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Anyone hear anything about if upenn and Harvard have sent out their acceptances yet? They're the only schools I haven't heard from. I'm in at Stanford, wait-listed at Chicago, interviewing at Northwestern this weekend, had a phone interview with NYU and one with Mcgill next week. I alo go it at Wisconsin Madison but i dont think they have funding so I'm taking them off my list. I'd appreciate stats. Thanks!
angesa01 Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Hi Vikki-- No word on Harvard, but last year they sent out info in late February. I'm waiting on them also.
musico Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Here is why I got when inquiring about my status on February 3rd: "The music department applications are still under review; but at this point it wouldn't make sense to add new material". Thus I assume that results should come shortly, or at least, people whom they want to admit shall be contacted through their POI or other references Professors, if any...
angesa01 Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I'm just hoping they do all their admits/rejections at one time. It is positively infuriating when I see that students have been accepted informally to programs! Granted, I'm happy for them and they certainly deserve it...but then I begin checking my email 30 times an hour again. Does anyone know about funding at Harvard? I've heard they were pretty generous with stipends.
vikkilynn Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 I would imagine Harvard has awesome funding. I'm coming with a master's from Umich where the stipend is 12,000 per year.....absurdly low. But I think Harvard is in the 24 range, or at least was...........
composer Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Does anyone know when the Ph.D. composition results were mailed out from Harvard last year? Or, for the sake of other people on the forum, for musicology or theory? Thanks!
vikkilynn Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Someone said today, but I'm assuming if you don't get a phone-call or an e-mail it's a rejection. I think only rejections are sent via snail mail, but then again I don't know for sure about Harvard. Anyone have any insight??

For what its worth, I had a friend who was accepted last year in comp. and he received his acceptance via snail mail. But then again, that was last year....
jcampbell Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) Harvard had their admissions meeting last Friday and has begun calling accepted applicants! I applied and was accept for PhD Theory and received a call for Christopher Hasty earlier this week. Edited February 25, 2010 by jcampbell
angesa01 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Congratulations on your acceptance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's fantastic. As for the rest of us....let's just hope that there are some acceptances in those envelopes as well.
