a fragrant plant Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Besides the two acceptances (via phone) on Feb 10, has anyone heard anything from Cornell? Have they made their decisions yet?
bananagramsfan Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I am one of the people who posted an acceptance on February 10th, though I'm not sure I have much information to add. The offer was made by phone by the DGS and followed up with a formal offer/letter. There is a departmental open house in a few weeks, so I assume that all initial offers have been made by now.

Thank you so much for your reply. Do you know how many people have been offered acceptance thusfar? Just to get an idea. Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you very much in advance. I have no idea...but they did say they expect the cohort to be 8-9. I wonder if that includes all the subfields of anthropology?
Nina Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 cornell rejections? i didn't get an email.. anyone? was it a mass mail? or a personal mail letting you know that you didn't make it?
aboxofcarrots Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 cornell rejections? i didn't get an email.. anyone? was it a mass mail? or a personal mail letting you know that you didn't make it? Hi Nina, and peanutanthro, and everyone else! I got the rejection :s basically it was an email from donna something that read "pls check the attached file" and there was actually a really nice rejection letter attached. they received 140 applications and selected 7 outstanding candidates. I think they've made their decision...so you should be hearing something soon...all the best to you guys
Nina Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 thanks for the update! So it was a mass email then? I wonder why i didn't get it.. does that mean i am waitlisted? Ahhh!!
anthroboy2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 thanks for the update! So it was a mass email then? I wonder why i didn't get it.. does that mean i am waitlisted? while I'm sure you're waitlisted, I did not receive a rejection notice either. However, if it was an indication of some secret possibility of waitlisted-ness wouldn't one expect there to be a string 'cornell reject' posts on the results page?

I agree. Why do they have to tortue us like this? I am international and I have not received a rejection email (yet). Sigh.
Nina Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Hi everyone.. So i called cornell, and they said emails were sent out for those with international mailing addresses.. For us in the U.S., we should anticipate MAILS to arrive in few days.

When you said "emails" are you referring to "acceptance email" or "rejection email"?
a fragrant plant Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 both i think! =) That's very strange. They seem to send out one or two acceptances/rejections at a time instead of sending blind mails to everyone.
a fragrant plant Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Have all of you who applied to Cornell got a response (good or bad)?
