Lousy Test taker Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Hi All, I havent received any acceptance or interview calls (thankfully, no rejects either) from any of the 7 universities I have applied to. I have been following the topics for quite sometime now, especially the "result search",looking at everything that's been happening should I start worrying?lol A lil background...I am an international, got my MS from the US.Screwed up the GRE,you see I am a lousy test taker , got 3 years of research experience with 2 publications in preparation and a decent enough GPA. I applied to some of decent schools although my GRE might be a deterrent 'cos my advisor pushed me to apply. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Have other applicants heard back from the schools you applied to? If not, then the schools obviously haven't started notifying their decisions yet, and you don't have anything yo worry about. If they have started notifying, what kind of notifications went out? Was there an interview event you weren't invited to (=bad sign)? Did the first rejections go out (=good sign)? Did the first acceptances go out (=bad sign)? If the school sent out some acceptances but you didn't hear anything, you could be on an unofficial wait-list. If you know decisions were made but you haven't heard anything, then you can worry.

One school(top choice) has its interview schedule up on its website and there were two rounds of interviews,I did not get an e-mail or any kind of notification for it. Potential Bad Sign. However, there is one more round of interview and like you mentioned the wait-list, so I'm mustering all my hopes up . And as far as the acceptances go, I haven't come across folks talking about any acceptance from this department. Well, I guess I will have to wait it out and keep my fingers crossed!

I have to admit that I seem to be in a similar boat. I too have yet to hear about most of my applications. The only rejection I received so far was a summary rejection in the first round. I have applied to departments that seem to send out results on the late side; I found this out from looking at the Results Search from previous years. Not all departments are equal in keeping us informed. I got an email today from UCLA saying that I should start applying for fellowships even though the decisions will not be sent out until March 1st. There is still room for hope... I think you don't have to worry too much. BTW, my own anxiety mode goes in this way: 1. no result reported: well, everything is just about to start, nothing to feel anxious about. 2. some acceptance reported but no rejection: sh*t, i think i'm losing the chance! 3. then the rejections show up, but i heard nothing: thank God that i would probably be on the wait list. all in all, before getting a rejection, we could be hopeful anyway. see the forum titled "The April 15th is this week" on the main menu, you can find out some people who were informed even after 4/15!

I will really be glad if I get one acceptance!!! I can't wait till April 15th, it is getting painstakingly agonizing already. fuck! I should have stayed at my old school, had a wonderful boss and really good research going on @Hermes: I wonder how many results posted in that section are genuine and accurate. I have noticed that some ppl post results with discrepancies in the dates. And fuck UCLA, they act so elitist the snooty bastards. socnerd and swissmiss 1 1
