I received an email from the department to which I applied saying "Congratulations on your acceptance," and asking me to contact the professor with whom I'd like to work. But I haven't received any other notification of acceptance. It seems like the kind of thing you'd send someone after they know they've gotten in.

At first I was ecstatic, but now i'm worried it's some kind of error. I called the department, but they seem to have left for the afternoon.

Which leaves me the weekend to freak out about it.

I know, I'm being a weirdo. This process has made me into kind of a paranoid monster. Still, i think it's weird that it was two sentences long and seemed to be missing some key elements! Thanks for the support!

I can't say I understand what that would feel like to get that email, but I do recommend staying relaxed and optimistic. All is well, and it's highly doubtful it was sent in error. Congratulations :)

Look on the bright side, if it was an error you now have them by the balls! I'm sure you could make a legal argument for your acceptance with that email. (Maybe, maybe not, but a little humor seemed appropriate.;))

If I were you, I would just be happy, lay low until Monday, and follow the directions once they tell you they really did accept you.

Relax! You're in!

While I have spent countless hours checking websites for news, every admit has come via email.

Congratulations!

Yeah, the website can be misleading. I got accepted to a school over a week ago via e-mail from the department and I just now received an e-mail asking me to check my status on the website. Trust the e-mail! You're in! Congratulations!! Go dance around and celebrate!
