Tiffany612 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Hi! I found that the current PhD students at NYU all have some econ background more or less. I wonder if an applicant without econ background (like me) would not be admitted. Does anyone know how much they value econ/quant background? Many thanks!
deutsch1997bw Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 NYU has a reputation for being very quant-heavy. In many ways (of course, this depends on your approach to political science), economics lends itself to quantitative research more than political science. If you have a strong quant background you should be fine.
