Wundt Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I'm currently completing a Social Psychology MSc and applying to Psych PhD programs. I'd like to work in cognitive psychology, on epistemic reasoning. But my background is in the humanities (philosophy of mind) and I have no lab experience. If this application round doesn't work out, would it be helpful for me to get a 2nd Master's (in cog psych or cog science)? Or would it make me look fickle?
PokePsych Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I'm not sure if the second master would be very helpful. I'd personally go for lab experience in cog psy/science and find a good mentor for a year or so in this field - it's important for a PhD anyway. Although research methods and theory between soc & cog is different, there are also numerous ways in which they overlap.
