CMU MS in CS/Robotics

So I applied to CMU for both the PhD and MS in Robotics (Part of the School of CS). Rejected from PhD, but accepted for MS (without funding). Now, the funding isn't a big problem because the company I work for is paying - but, my ultimate goal is a PhD, and I don't want this to be a "terminal" MS degree (like Stanford). Is anyone familiar with how things work at CMU CS/Robotics? Basically, what is generally the procedure for a MS student to continue to PhD (if this is allowed at all?)
