Southwestspeechie Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Hello! I took a class on Biopsychology and it was listed as Psyc335. I have read that Biopsychology can fulfill the ASHA bio prereq, but I am not sure if mine will work because in the course name is Psychology, and not Biology. When I previously asked a representative from one of my schools about the chem prereq, she said that the course just has to have chem in the prefix, so I assume it is something similar for Biology. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am currently signed up for Human Genetics for the Spring, but it would be great if I didn't have to take that! Thanks!
zurako Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Psychobiology is listed under behavioral sciences not biological sciences on ASHA's website so human genetics is probably a better bet. http://www.asha.org/Certification/Course-Content-Areas-for-SLP-Standards/ But ultimately it's up to your grad program to decide what counts and what doesn't. If there is a lab components it might be easier to argue that it's a bio course.
