Rtw12345
I’m new to posting here and to this forum in general but I will be applying to the 3 Master’s programs in I/O Psych and the main one I want to get into is at UCF. I’ve gotten a V155 and Q152. I’ve talked to multiple grad students in the I/O program there and they said with those scores, GPA, and my experience I should have a good chance of getting in. Now where the conflict comes in; I asked how my chances were on in the I/O Psych subreddit and everyone that responded said I basically have no chance of getting in based on the fact that they rank their applicants on Quant scores. So my question is, who’s word should I take more into consideration and what are your guys opinions? Edited December 20, 2017 by Rtw12345
Quantitative_Psychology
If I were you, I would keep in mind that many of the people responding to you in these forums are in the same boat as you trying to navigate applications. Also, I would say take anything that is said on these forums with a grain of salt because a lot of different factors could influence the opinions expressed. 1) Some I/O programs care more about quant scores than others, 2) This could just be hearsay from different professors and mentors that aren't actually part of the admissions for these programs, and 3) There might be some other aspect of your application that could offset the scores that are not currently being taken into account. I'm not saying that the information you received from the forum is wrong (I personally have no idea), but I would probably put more stock in what the current graduate students at the program are saying. They would know more about that specific program than anyone. Rtw12345
