Hi Everyone! Are there any music folks out there? I took a glance at some of the discussions and there are not many that concentrate on the music field. Not going to lie, I am a bit more nervous with these grad applications than I was with my undergrad. I received a bachelor of music education from a well respected private university and have been teaching for a few years. My end goal is to obtain a PhD in Musicology and teach at the collegiate level. I would love to hear of others stories as we wait this thing out.

Schools in which I applied:Arizona State MA in Musicology, Ucla MA Musicology on a PhD track, U of Oregon MA in Musicology, MM in Musicology from Texas Tech.

I've also applied to PhD programs in Musicology! Although I just discovered this site. I also applied to UCLA, USC (I'm completing my DMA in Early Music here now), and Northwestern University. I applied for and was accepted into the Musicology department at UO four years ago, but decided on USC instead. (I really loved Marc Vanscheeuwijck at UO, though.)

Thanks for posting, jman280687!

It seems like my situation is similar to yours. I received a Music Ed degree and have been teaching for about three years. This is the first cycle in which I have ever applied for a graduate degree so, needless to say, it's all brand new to me! I just discovered this site, too, and have been scouring for information regarding decisions from the universities where I have applied. At this time, I have applied to UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke, and the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. I received an invitation from Peabody to have an interview. That interview is next week - eek! I have been preparing for that along with the diagnostic examination. My dream that must come true otherwise I have no idea what to do with my life goal is to obtain a Ph.D. in Musicology, as well, and conduct research, write, and teach. I wish you the best in your endeavors!
