Dear Fellow Gradcafe Members,
Hello!
After lurking on GF for a while a decided to sign up because I desperately need you wisdom.
This is the premise: I am an international applicant and my field is Neuroscience. I come from a different continent and
the application process has been pretty hard on me. Also, it doesn't really help that I don't know anyone in real life who can
offer advice about it, because most of the Ph.D. oriented people I know want to stay closer to home and have only applied for
European programs, which select in a different way (at least that's the impression I got)...
Now, this is the thing: I have been interviewing with a school and a delicate situation has arisen. I don't want to explicitly
write on the forum what it is because it would be easily recognizable and I am OCD that way (i know that professors probably
have better things to do than checking the GF forum, but I still don't feel confortable posting about it. I guess I am internet shy.
Hell, I don't even have facebook!). BUUUT, I really feel I could use some good advice from you guys.
So, if you are willing to help out a fellow desperate applicant who really needs a honest piece of advice and a new perspective, just let me know and I'll PM you about my 'predicament', and maybe you can let me know what you would do if you were in my shoes. My field is science, but I'd love to hear other people's opinion, too!
Thank you in advance for your much needed help!!
PS: don't worry, it's nothing very long or complicated. And it might also help you get your mind off your own applications and how close you are to a nervous breakdown! See, we both win !!
