  1. thanks for the reply guys.. ya, i think i will just stay at yale.
  2. GRE or TOEFL is one of those things that if you do well, nobody cares, yet if you do badly, it is gonna be ugly. Honestly, ur GRE and TOEFL r not that great (pretty bad), good AW tho.
  3. Hi All, I am currently a 1st yr Ph.D. student in computer engineering at Yale, I am considering transfer to Stanford (Yes, it is possible). We have this Ivy+ Exchange program (exchange Ph.D. students among Ivy schools + MIT, berkeley, and stanford). I can go exchange to Stanford to work for a Stanford prof., and therefore increase my odds for admission under the prof. Is it worth the effort ? I mean, Stanford is a prettier name than Yale, in terms of Computer Engineering. I don't know which prof. I wanna work with. ATM, I am doing it for the prettier name only. Worth it?? Thanks, Leon.
  4. GPA and GRE scores are typical , sure, but how can a undergraduate student get to publish paper...
  5. holy shit.. not sure why any school on earth would reject you ...
  6. stop trolling ppl . ppl here are worried and looking for real comments...
  7. dude, we are on the same boat. 162Q 148V, 4 AW, applying to MIT ( doesn't require GRE ) and yale ( i have talked to a prof there )
  8. the ranking itself sux... given that waterloo is nowhere to be found. My undergrad school is top 30 i think in the THE... .. it doesn't mean anything..
  9. ur undergrad gpa is 2.5 and u r applying to Berkeley.. with all due respect, 170v/170q won't help you..
  10. U of toronto will be thrilled if they see an application from MIT.... that alone gives u great chances of getting in anything
  11. hm.... ur gre score is certainly below stanford's average gre score. but they take ppl based on the application package. I have a friend in electrical engineering, 93% CGPA, 2 research internships. gre 148v 168q, rejected by berkeley. just something I know... if you have tons of internships , they might take you in considering you are international student, meaning lots of lots of lots of lots of tuitions. ... I have 148v, 162q, and 4 writing. I don't bother applying to stanford, I do apply to MIT, since they dont require GRE for EECS
  12. you are right.. i didn't study for math at all the first time. i did study for math the second time.. for 2 hours.. just to get the feeling of the timing. still dont know what are my options on grad school. well im applying to mit since they don't need gre for eecs
  13. mention i think GRE sux?? not sure why would i do that, but thanks for the tip anyway.
  14. just retook gre, 148 V and 162 Q now. i didn't study for it, not sure why it gets higher.. The only explanation is that the test sux, it does not reflect anything..
