  1. I don't think anyone will look that closely at your transcript. Just the GPA and pre-req courses for the program. I took three courses most semesters of my undergrad at a US school. I can't imagine someone seeing three courses in a semester as being "lazy" so long as you maintain a full-time course load. I do agree though that you should strive to raise your GPA. And if you plan to apply to research-based grad programs, you should consider getting research experience in a lab. You can also check if your school will grant course units and grades for your undergrad research.
  2. That's great! I hope I hear good news from them today too!
  3. I agree with asking your mentors for suggestions based on your personal research interests. I also agree about not putting too much weight on any particular school's ranking. However, you should consider applying to 2-3 of your "dream schools" even if you think they are too competitive. There is a fair degree of subjectivity and you can't predict how any individual will perceive your personal statements. If you want to shoot for very competitive programs, you should consider 1-2 years working as a tech full-time in a really good lab on a independent project. Of course this is not always an easy option when visas are involved.
  4. Yay me too! So excited! Which school conflicts with Davis?
  5. Anyone hear back yet from Microbiology programs at University of Washington or UC Davis? Their deadlines were Dec 15, so I imagine the applications are still being reviewed.
  6. Great! I'm glad to see other transfer students successfully getting interviews at good programs.
  7. Hello! First time posting. Just curious, is anyone else here is a current or former community college transfer student?
