Strange to hear as my advisor specifically said that my university had received word Fulbright had cancelled funding to Kenya (and that this was part of the reason my university has since cancelled all further research support to Kenya). In addition, a friend of mine had the Kenya portion of her Fulbright teacher exchange grant to Kenya and Tanzania cancelled due to security concerns. Edit: OK, so I just checked and my friend's application was under the 2014-2015 window (that would fit better with what Jermaine told you), but the travel ban from my university came down last week. I wonder, then, where my university is getting their information from?

Photogeographic (or any lurking Kenyan finalists), I heard from my Fulbright advisor today that Kenya was labeled a no-go zone because of the continued insecurity in the country and no FB grants were awarded this year. So, unless we hear otherwise from someone, I think we can chalk up our (NSs) to that. Takes the sting off. A little.

Thanks for the well wishes. There are a couple reasons beyond the security situation (which is bleak) why I wasn't confident in my chances. But still obviously disappointed to see the final score. Hoping for the best for other SSA applicants.

Not selected for Kenya.

Ah, a fellow Kenya applicant... Study or ETA? I've applied for a study grant and was wondering if, indeed, we won't find out until April. That's frustrating if true because it means I'll have to have started applications for Wenner Genn and DDRA (just announced) at the same time. Mid-April seems like a such a long ways out for what are only, probably 10-12 applications to scrutinize. Either way, best of luck!
