  1. 2 rejections today but glad to know...hope you all have a good weekend! fingers crossed as we get closer to March 15th
  2. sorry to hear that Gael, you still have your Harvard acceptance which is no small feat!
  3. thanks for the info Panache! seems like mixed messages left and right, nothing to do but to wait
  4. Gael I'm in a similar position with Hopkins HBS, still haven't heard and feel like I'm just waiting for a rejection--hopefully they post the remainder by tomorrow!
  5. MammaD yes! they definitely have to let us know either way. I just don't understand the lag time between when schools make decisions and when they let applicants know, but this will all be over soon. I am most definitely keeping my fingers crossed for you I still haven't heard from Hopkins HBS program-was told a decision should be up this week, and I've seen some news in the results so I'm not sure whats taking them. I'm in at Pitts BCHS program after interviewing, seems like a really great school and I'm looking forward to visiting!! Was wait listed at Michigan HBHE--does anyone know if there is ever movement in the wait list from this department? Now that interviews seem to be done this would be a good time to go on a nice distracting vacation.
  6. So glad to hear some decisions are finally being made! If I remember correct I think Columbia PhD in SMS does do interviews but I'm not sure the DrPH program does.
  7. sjohansen I didn't apply to Tulane, but if you have to make a decision by the 15th I'd definitely recommend getting in touch with Tulane and explain your situation to them it may get them to hurry along. For anyone interested academic coordinators at the following schools told me the info below: Hopkins HBS--decisions will be out this week, they don't conduct interviews but it looks like they've notified accepted applicants (her nice way of telling me I didn't get in) UCLA CHS- anytime between now and March 15th, was told they do not conduct interviews Michigan HBHE- most decisions have already been made and final decisions will go out by Friday Columbia SMS- within the next two weeks, also no interviews (DrPH)
  8. Hey charlieferrusi--I' not sure any one can give you a real answer but from your description it sounds like you have a good chance and congrats on your acceptances so far!
  9. Panache, I applied to a similar mix of schools I would love to get tution covered, health insurance and if there isn't a generous stipend I could probably work with that. I have debt from my Masters and can't imagine taking on additional debt for another 4 years--its just money I would never earn back and even though I really want to get a PhD I just have to be real about other decisions I'd like to make in my life and how having more debt would affect that. And part of getting a PhD is getting the teaching and research experience you need to advance your career luckily you can also use those to pay for your education. Everyone is differnent though, if you were lucky enough to get through undergrad and grad school with little or no debt a year or two of paying for some of your PhD may be worth it. I know funding is really tight out there for schools but if it comes down to it I would definitely choose a fully funded program over one that isn't.
  10. Looks like Harvard SD Epi made some decisions today. Sorry to hear that mpheels! I just dont understand the lag time between when decisions are made and when applicants are notified it seems if they had already made a decision you should already have been told without having to call yourself but alas--enjoy your trip to SC and fingers crossed for Hopkins! Belafish that is exactly how I feel about the weekends haha! Enjoy the weekend everyone--March is just a few days away
  11. thanks juliajulia hopefully its this week (and good news!)
  12. has anyone heard from UCLA's CHS PhD program I saw an acceptance for the DrPH program and thought maybe the dept would be rolling out decisions
  13. Yea I contacted faculty at all of the schools I applied to (about 7) and spoke with 1-2 faculty at all but 2 schools. Same as carryon08 I didn't apply to the school where I got my MPH so I didn't have significant ties to any school but I called around mainly to see if I was a good fit and get some more information about what they look for in students. If a faculty person I spoke to wasn't on the admissions committee they would often give me the contact information of someone who was--which is helpful if you have some admissions questions and they tend to be pretty honest about how the application process works.
  14. congrats Panache that is a great program, did they call you today with the news? I only asked because I figured schools would be closed with the holiday. Great News!!
  15. congrats mpheels! I definitely agree with you belafish this waiting is ridiculous
  16. sorry to hear that MammaD! fingers crossed for MCH
  17. Congrats Gael--hopefully good news in the next week continues!
  18. Looks like a bunch of people got into Harvard today! only two more weeks in Feb when will this waiting end?!
  19. Did anyone who applied to Columbia SMS get a financial aid survey today? I didnt get one but I heard some people did and just was wondering if they send them to all applicants....? still havent heard anything from Columbia :\
  20. From stalking the results page, looks like Emory BSHE is rolling out some decisions, fingers crossed everyone!
  21. Yea HBS at Hopkins doesn't interview which I've always thought was weird, a lot of the other departments do though. I've never really understood why schools ask where else you applied, I've always chalked it up to them being competitive and trying to poach students from each other, sounds like you handled the question well mpheels. congrats everyone on interviews and acceptances! hopefully the next couple weeks will hold some decisions for everyone
  22. Yea tha makes sense thanks for the info MPH(D?) good luck on Friday
  23. Panache and MPH(D?) did Pitt ever schedule you, I got an interview request from them today which I am super excited about but a little scared about getting it scheduled!
  24. :sigh: another week with no clarity! maybe decisions will pour in next week
  25. congrats MPH(D?) I applied to that program too but haven't heard back at all , that's weird they won't schedule you--maybe give them a call to see if your email just got lost in the shuffle? I'd say check MammaD, its good to know either way. Good luck!
