  1. congrats belafish! did you apply to the PhD or DrPH program? I would just recommend being honest, they'll ask you about your background and research and its really a chance for them to see if you're a good fit for the program and if the program is a good fit for you, they'll definitely ask you about faculty you want to work with and where you see you're career going/why you need the doctorate. good luck!
  2. I've had an interview but still no decisions either way. When did you hear from/interview with UCLA. I also applied to the CHS program also and wasn't contacted about an interview
  3. 2 new results were posted-- 1 rejection from Pitts DrPH program and 1 interview request that came on the 30th of Jan from UCLA CHS program not my results but I just saw them posted in case anyone was interested
  4. There seems to be silence across the board so I'm taking some comfort in that and in the fact that program administrators keep saying "decisions should come out in a couple weeks" in the past I've found administrators have no issues with telling you that you didn't get in. Also if you hear mentions of admit days but still haven't heard it doesn't mean all is lost. Admit days are mostly geared towards Masters students and schools sometimes admit doctoral students after that date for whatever reason.
  5. Congrats on getting into UT!! I haven't seen much from Health Behavior/Community Health type programs so maybe now some of those decisions will start rolling out
  6. Congrats on the interview! Which program at Pitt are you interviewing with
  7. The waiting is very hard! But I wouldn't say you're out until you hear for sure that you are out. It looks like decisions are being slow across programs compared to last year. I used to live in Chapel Hill and honestly housing won't be as hard as you think. Chapel Hill buses also are free so if you're not within walking distance from campus (and honestly you don't want to live walking distance from campus) there are plenty of buses that will take you right where you need to go. My experience with grad school administration is that getting professors all together with their schedules, research, committees and travel is like herding cats, so its a bit of a feat to get them all in a room to make decisions. If you can try and distract yourself for the next couple weeks, there will be some decisions by the end of the month!
  8. Congrats everyone on interviews and acceptances! Health Behavior programs tend to take a long time too! Every department is different depending on how much funding they have, prof. schedules etc...the waiting sucks but hopefully the next couple of weeks will have some good news
  9. Thanks for the sleuth work everyone!
  10. Yes! longest wait ever sheesh
  11. sorry for the delay on my end also. I ended up applying to a couple Epi departments just because the faculty research really was a better fit. I'm hoping my research experience and GRE scores help assuage concerns about my quant abilities. I had one interview and they asked me if I was nervous about the quant requirements of an Epi PhD and I just answered honestly that while my qual skills are stronger I think I would be fine, so now just lots of waiting! how about you, how did/are thing panning out for you?
  12. Does anyone know anything about Brown? Specificially their PhD in Epi program, I just can't find much information about it or anyone who really in familiar with it so thought I'd ask the form. thanks
  13. Does any one know of anyone who got their MPH in community health/health and social behavior etc. and went on to do their PhD in epi. Most of the professors who do research I am most interested in are in Epi departments but I got my MPH in Health and Social Behavior. Since getting my MPH in 2011 I've been working as a research analyst, I don't have any published articles but I have a couple abstracts and posters. MPH GPA: 3.8 GRE: V 163 (91) Q 155 (64%) W 4.5 (73%) does anyone have any helpful advice on how I could position myself into an Epi department without an Epi MPH? --I could definitely go the social epi route but am just wondering what the chances might be. thanks!
