  1. Thanks, mindlesspleasures! _Time Binds_ looks to be right up my alley. I think I'll start there.
  2. I'm interested in early 18th century art and lit. (British and French), digital humanities, and narrative theory. I know next to nothing about queer studies/theory; any primer recommendations? ETA: I'm well versed in Foucault and Butler, and I know I need to read Halerpin's Saint Foucault. That's about all I've got.
  3. I just spoke with Dr. Garcha, and I let him know that I will be accepting their offer. I am so excited to meet everyone at the visiting day! For everyone waiting, I hope that good news come your way quite soon. Go Bucks!
  4. Btw, I called Columbia just a bit ago. While they (Virginia Kay) couldn't tell me which list my name was on, they did confirm that all admittances went out last night. :/
  5. I was awarded a fellowship - calls should be coming throughout the day. Btw, sounds like they are planning on admitting another 18th C. British candidate!
  6. Um, yeah - pins and needles over here as well!
  7. I feel like we're gonna be friends!
  8. As one of the fellowship nominees, I'll make sure to post what I hear from the department on the 18th. (I'm sure Gwendolyn will do the same, which should lead to a clearer picture of funds, etc.)
  9. My status rolled over to denied on my.wisc. GC won't let me add screenshots, but it is noted on both screens. Are you still pending? Hopefully that means you've been waitlisted? Although, I would hope they would notify you of that.
  10. OSU didn't leave a message, but they also disclosed their number. Also, my Madison rejection finally came through via website. At least I was expecting it?)
  11. My thoughts exactly! Well, best of luck with your interview.
  12. DontHate, did you apply to the ICLS through the department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures? I noticed the English app also had a box to indicate you were interested (I'm technically qualified in terms of number of languages and transnational work, but it just didn't seem to be the strongest minor for me). ETA: Also, congrats!
  13. The ultimate panacea: PandaCam http://www.sandiegozoo.org/pandacam/gallery.html
  14. For the record, I called UW-Madison, and they confirmed that *nearly* all the admits have been notified. The rest of us will hear definitively very soon as to where we stand. Good luck all!
  15. I've been working under the impression of sub-committees, as I believe Madison was one of the programs to indicate that the interests you selected in your application would (help) determine the initial reviewers of your app. Granted, I could be quite wrong, in which case, I'd have to agree with you (but that means we're all doomed, so I'm sticking to my delusion )
  16. I suppose it depends greatly on your proposed research interest(s): "The admissions committees will be convening to determine those prospective students that will be recommended for admission to the Graduate School. The various admissions committees do not make decisions all at the same time. You can plan to receive some word February 28." -> that's still a good ways off!
  17. Looks to be another admittance on the boards - anyone in the forum?
  18. Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I do love this place. For what it is worth, I made an error on my CV (haven't brought myself to reread my SOP) that my advisor caught but that I didn't -- I entered the wrong date for a conference. That copy went to 2 schools, including OSU.
  19. I creep more than I post, but I wanted to add that I just got a decision from Ohio State (English)! No email or word on funding yet, since it rolled over in appstatus maybe 30 seconds ago. I'll be updating the results page, but this is my first notification of the season, so I'm just squeeing right now! :D :D
  20. Does anyone else have their GRE scores still listed as "awaiting" at Columbia? It has now been 4 weeks since the deadline...
