  1. I don't really have any experience in your subject area, but I had fun finding scholars in my field by going back and looking at the authors of the major articles I've worked with. I looked up the article author(s) and also some of the authors of the main works mentioned in the footnotes/endnotes. It definitely wasn't foolproof, but it was a good way to get me to look at institutions that I wouldn't necessarily have before, or universities that I knew had someone who wrote things I was interested in.
  2. I haven't heard from UVA. I'm not sure why they haven't been putting up rejections all at one time
  3. Mine was in the mail, too, dated 2/26. My status changed online to "Wait List" sometime before last Thursday, but I was hesitant to trust the website without receiving any word from the department
  4. I just found out that I'm on Buffalo's waitlist! It sounds like they're funding PhD's this year, at least- they said they only have 10 TA spots
  5. Also, Dallas and Fort Worth are really different. I think they get smooshed together a majority of the time, but they are really two very distinct cities to consider
  6. Could you elaborate on this a bit? I've never heard this particular perspective before
  7. Here are some encouraging words: selective perception. I bet you're only focusing on the parts that may have been slightly rough (because interviews always have awkward patches) and not on the parts that were amazing! For example, the fact that you even had an interview with CUNY is seriously something to celebrate ! Here's another encouraging word: petrichor. Just because it's an awesome, useful word
  8. hah, y'all sum up my feelings exactly. I haven't heard anything yet, either. Sometimes I think that it's a good sign, and then other times I convince myself that I'm going to get a rejection tomorrow
  9. Hey, if I've learned anything from this process, it's that we don't know. And, you're awesome enough to already have an acceptance and fellowship in hand. I think that's impressive
  10. From looking at the boards from previous years, it looks like rejections went out on either one day or over a couple (?), but mostly on one day. It seems strange that they would do some on one day and some on another, unless it's like "cuts" and we won't find out the next round of cuts for a couple of days
  11. jrockford, I'm feeling your anxiety. And I'm a K, if that's relevant
